Dear Colleague,

The staff of the Newport Aquarium would like to invite you to be an active participant in the 23rd Annual Regional Aquatics Workshop (RAW) hosted by the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY.  We encourage you to share you knowledge with your fellow colleagues by presenting your field of expertise to the group.  Without many opportunities for formal training, public aquarists rely greatly on information sharing within the confines of our small, but highly skilled community to consistently improve our husbandry techniques for the well being of our captive collections. With a large variety of experience levels in attendance, from entry level aquarist to battle tested director, presentations are solicited to cover an array of topics. This year, seven main topic sections will be covered:

RAW will kick off this year on Monday June 8th with a day’s worth of AZA Aquatic TAG and AQIG meetings followed by a day dedicated to the first Jellyfish Symposium.  The next three days, June 10th -12th, will be paper sessions during which you are given the opportunity to share your new innovation or re-hashed old exploits with your fellows!  The seven sessions planned will have 4-5 selected talks per session, and each talk is limited to a max of twenty minutes. If you need more incentive to whet your appetite for RAW 2009, see the Registration Form for more details on the conference.

Interested parties should download, complete and send Presentation / Poster Application form to:
