There are 2 airports servicing Houston:
George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is located north of Houston and is approximately 70 miles from Moody Gardens. It is the larger airport with the most airlines.
Houston Hobby (HOU) is located south of Houston and is approximately 38 miles from Moody Gardens. Very limited carriers – mainly Southwest.Airlines.
There are currently 2 shuttle services from the airports to Galveston. There will likely be more options as the cruise industry continues to ramp up.
Galveston Limousine (https://galvestonlimo.com/airport-shuttle/) is currently listing online specials at $50 R/T to HOU and $70 R/T to IAH.
Galveston Express (https://galvestonexpress.com/) is advertising “as low as $30”, but looks like there are many options that are aimed at servicing the cruise ships, so there will likely be a clearer picture as we move through the fall and winter months.
We are planning a stripped down version of RAW from the events perspective. We mainly want to provide an in-person venue for that information exchange and networking that has been missing for 2 years. We are also hoping to provide the re-boot to the RAW process to recruit the 2023 host and move things forward. We are planning to provide a virtual option to reconnect as many as possible, but you all know what you miss by not attending RAW in person.
Continue to watch this website for more information as the RAW Advisory Committee, RAW Program Committee and Moody Gardens’ staff work to pull this together in less than 6 months – yikes!
